Welcome to 2024

Welcome back literary lovers. I can hardly believe January has only a few hours left. I have never been a fan of Jan but this year I decided to change my mindset and use this month to take some time to reflect on the year ahead and enjoy the peace of what is always a quieter month.

Instead of feeling glum about the darkness I embraced the joy of candlelight and instead of feeling blue about the lack of book lovers on the High Street we closed our doors three days a week to focus on the joy of reading. My reading has been varied, from the insightful words of Matt Haig and the glorious poetry of Lemn Sissay to Gabrielle Sevin and an old favourite Jack Kerouac.

With half term around the corner I spent today in the bookshop stocking up on our children's titles and after a fun-filled visit to London Toy fair last week I am delighted to bring you some fabulous card and board games from UK indies.

We are also starting to work on the line-up for Burford Lit Fest 2024 and the dates have been set for 27th -29th September where we invite you join the conversation with wonderful authors and literary events. More info will be forthcoming and you can follow the progess at www.burfordlitfest.co.uk

We will soon be back to our usual opening hours but in the meantime please remember our website is always open www.madhatterbookshop.co.uk

Thank you for supporting your local indie bookshop and we look forward to seeing you soon.
