It's Independent Bookshop Week and to celebrate we would like you to bring us your preloved children's books!
We have teamed up with The Children's Book Project to help tackle book poverty among children.
Please pop into Madhatters and drop off any gently used books that your children may have grown out of and these will be gifted to other children with very few books of their own.
This year’s book drive is running under the title “Pass on the Magic,” with a focus on how books can bring joy, creativity, and the power to dream to children’s lives.
Maz Evans, author of celebrated children’s books Who Let the Gods Out?, Scarlett Fife and Vi Spy
series said: “I’m thrilled to see so many wonderful independent bookshops getting behind this
campaign. They are at the heart of reading communities nationwide and by inviting families to find
new homes for their children’s pre-loved books are helping to tackle book poverty in the most
practical of ways”.
Liberty Venn, Founder of the Children’s Book Project said: “Pass on the books your children have
loved but grown out of and help us to put stories directly in other children’s hands. It’s a powerful
way to combat book poverty and to give every child the chance to find a book that inspires them.”
37 indie bookshops are participating this year and the charity hopes to far exceed 2020’s impressive collection tally of over 6000 books!
As a thank you for sharing the magic we will give you £1 off your next new book so sort out your bookshelves, share the magic and start a new adventure!
