Whilst there has been a bookshop in Burford for over 30 years run by some incredible women June 20th will mark our 5th Birthday - five years since we opened our doors under new ownershop, having been handed the reigns by the wonderful Sara Hall.
I cannot say it has been an easy five years - we opened in the middle of a pandemic and a decline in High Street appreaciation but no matter how hard it gets financially it is still a joy and a priviledge to step through those double doors and into the glorious and magical world of the bookshop.
So what's occurring? .....

Our BIGGEST Little news ever!
LITTLE MADHATTER
We are very excited to bring you news of LITTLE MADHATTER - our second shop on Burford High Street. Little Madhatter will be devoted to our younger readers - it will be jam packed with books to inspire, enlighten and amuse young minds.
As well as books, we will have a magical selection of hand curated toys and a room devoted to games for all the family. One of my favourite ways to spend an evening is to gather the family around the kitchen table and play games - from Snap to Monopoly, from Where in the World to Guess Who.
Not only do Board games give children an opportunity to learn how to take turns, practise patience, work as part of a team, negotiate with others, compromise, communicate ideas, take risks and follow rules - playing together creates magical memories!
We will also be extending our Book Club with a Junior Book Club and offering a range of storytime activities for little ones and Games Nights for the grown ups. Dates and information will be added to our Diary very soon!
We look forward to seeing you soon and in the meantime subscribe to our news letter to keep up to date with news and offers.
